Its one of those defining days; A friend, not even a good friend off handedly, hands you a breath mint and says, “come on, get a clue.” So there you stand thinking “omg I think he just told me that I have bad breath? You quickly cup your hand and cover your mouth, no not in shock, but to do the incredible telling bad breath test. You know the one, you blow air soft and easy into the cupped hand and then you breathe it. Before you continue let me tell you something you don’t seem to know; no one can tell that they themselves have halitosis, (bad breath, morning breath, and halitosis are terms used to describe a noticeably unpleasant odor exhaled on the breath.) We can guess but we really can not smell our own breath.

  • Baking soda can be used to maintain good oral health and for fighting bad breath.
  • A mixture of 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water can be swooshed around in the mouth and used as a mouthwash.
  • Stay away from smelly foods if you don’t want other people to know what you ate
  • Chlorophyll is a natural breath freshener and is found in leafy green vegetables like parsley.
  • A few drops of peppermint or tea tree oil can be applied to the tongue or toothbrush to freshen the breath. In addition to its refreshing nature, their antibacterial properties will kill the bacteria found in the mouth.
